Who runs this site
Rapid Domain Check is run by DCZT, the trade name under which I, an individual developer in the Czech Republic, publish my apps and websites. I am responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach me at support@dczt.dev. There are no accounts, and the site sets no cookies of its own.
The names you search
To tell you whether a domain is available, the site's server checks each name you search (with the extensions you choose, and the names on your shortlist when you open it) with: the registries' public RDAP services, found through IANA's directory (for example Verisign for .com and .net); Google Public DNS, to see whether a name has nameservers; and the registrars Porkbun, GoDaddy and Gandi, for availability and prices. They receive only the domain names, from my server, and not your IP address or anything else about you. Results are kept in the server's memory for one minute so a repeated search is fast, and are not stored.
Your search also appears in the page's address, so it is in your browser history, and in the standard request logs of Vercel, which hosts the site and keeps them for a short time to run and protect it. I don't keep a record of what you searched.
What is kept in your browser
Your shortlist of saved domains and the registrar you prefer are stored in your browser's local storage, and so is the light or dark theme if you pick one. They stay on your device and are used only to show you your choices next time. Clearing this site's data in your browser deletes them.
Visitor statistics
I count visits with AnalyticsInsights, an analytics tool I run myself on my own server at Hetzner in Germany. It does not use cookies or store anything in your browser, follow you across other websites, or store your IP address. Your IP address is used only for a moment: to look up your country, and, together with your browser's identification and a random value that is replaced every day, to count you as one visitor for that day, so visits on different days cannot be linked and your IP address cannot be recovered.
It records the page visited (never the search in its address), the site you came from, your browser, operating system, device type and country, and how the tools are used: that a search started or finished and how many extensions and results it had, changes to your shortlist, comparing saved domains, bulk checks and exports, the registrar you choose, and clicks on registrar, marketplace, research and hosting links. It never records a name you typed or a domain. To help me read these statistics I may use an AI assistant (Claude, by Anthropic), which acts as my service provider.
While I finish moving to AnalyticsInsights, the same page views and events also go to Umami, an open-source analytics tool I run myself on Vercel. It does not use cookies either. It recognises a returning visitor within a calendar month by a value calculated from the IP address and browser, and stores the page (without the search), the site you came from, your browser, operating system, device, screen size, language and approximate location (country, region and city).
Affiliate links
Some registrar and hosting links (such as GoDaddy, Namecheap, Network Solutions and Spaceship) are affiliate links: if you buy something after following one, I may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. A registrar or marketplace link carries the domain you chose, so that it opens on that name, and an affiliate code. Once you are on their site, their own privacy policy and cookies apply. The affiliate programmes report commissions to me, not who you are.
Legal basis and retention
I process this data on the basis of my legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): to run the searches you ask for, to keep the site secure and working, and to understand how it is used so I can improve it. You can object at any time (see "Your rights"). What is kept in your browser is needed for the features you use. The visitor statistics are kept for as long as they help me improve the site; the daily visitor value in AnalyticsInsights cannot be linked to anything once its day is over.
International transfers
AnalyticsInsights runs in the EU, at Hetzner in Germany. Some of the services described here are based outside the European Economic Area, mainly in the United States: Vercel, which hosts the site and Umami; Google Public DNS; GoDaddy and Porkbun; and Anthropic. Where personal data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, the transfer relies on an adequacy decision of the European Commission (such as the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for companies certified under it) or on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses, as described in each company's own privacy policy. You can ask me for more information about these safeguards.
Your rights
Under the GDPR, and depending on where you live, you have the right to access the personal data held about you and get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to receive it in a portable format, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Because the statistics are counted without cookies or stored IP addresses, I usually cannot tell which of them are yours, but write to me at support@dczt.dev and I will help where I can. I answer requests within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU country where you live or work or where you think your rights were infringed. In the Czech Republic this is the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů, Pplk. Sochora 27, 170 00 Prague 7, uoou.gov.cz).
Changes
I update this page when the site starts doing something new with your data; the date at the top shows the current version.
